Kiter.com:
Who are the other Italian Kiteboarders?
Simone Vannucci - I don't know they are so many, about 2500 !!!
Where is you favorite place to kite?
I am still working on it. The place has the waves of Mauritius, the wind of Hawaii, and the culture and food of Sardinia.
Have you tried other kiting forms, like snow or landboarding with a kite?
Snow kite is lame to me, I enjoy to kite my longboard.
What is you training program to stay fit for kitng?
The secret is pasta, wine and tiramisù !!! and of course sex until it hurts……ask Martin and Jaime !
Tell us about you background in moto-cross. Does it help you cross train?
MX is all about jumping and attached to a 230 pound bike and no water….real stuff
but running and stretching really helps for my kiting.
What were your results this year at the Redbull King of the Air and were you happy with them?
It was ok, I finished 7th in Freestyle and 3rd in Hang Time.
How in the world do you hook-up the Jeep sponsorship when other kiters are calling themselves "sponsored" because they get stickers from a clothing company?
It took good luck, a lot of work and the right connections, but it wasn't hard
Do you get a Jeep?
Hell yeah, a fully loaded, pimping leather seats Limited Liberty
So let's see….. Single guy traveling the world doing the funnest sport in history and sponsored by Jeep? Is this your dream job and if not what would be?
Actually, no but it would be, if beside compete, I was also designing kites for RRD, found a great girlfriend in Hawaii and managed to spend summers in Italy and winter training and testing in Hawaii !!
So what are your goals, where can you take it from here? I wanted real hard to be responsible for the design of RRD kites and now my main focus is to design great kites for my company and ride them good in competition. That's what I did in the RedBull with the RRD TypeZ and after all it was the best start I could aspect.
What other riders inspire you?
Who ever pushes it. At this moment for sure Martin, Jaime and bunch of other guys.
How will you do next year on the tour?
I hope I won't have as much bad luck as I've had this year.
What is the wildest thing you have ever done? Tell the whole story.
In the 1997 I tried hard for a while to get a normal job back in Florence. Scary !
Any other major projects in the works?
For the next months I will be focused on a 2004 RRD kite line and Training. Then during my stay in Europe couple cool trip in between PKRA events for pictures and video.
Any parting words to your kiteboarding colleagues?
It's either ALL or NOTHING
