What about your home town do you like? Hate?
Nothing/Everything It is in the middle of nowhere...nothing
but strip malls. Everything is beige there
What is the worst job you ever had?
The one I hated the most was being a receptionist at a
carpet warehouse it lasted 2 days. I liked the job I had
at a gas station.
Now that you are in the sport and established,
what are your goals?
World domination....no really ...I want to spread flowers
and bold colors everywhere and damit have people like
me. No really for myself I really want to do well in competion
but really it is more about the traveling and meeting
other people who love the same things I do.
What are your goals for the 2003 season?
Not being myself, just kidding...to kite to my potential
How do you feel about competitions?
I think that everyone is so different it is hard to give
a generalization but if I had to give a generalization
they have to have a systematic approach to judging and
have competitions in windy places, to think more about
showcasing the sport
How do you feel about the judging?
Currently judging is all over the place, sometimes good,
sometimes horrible
What do you think about the prize money? Do you
buy the proportion theory?
I think that it should roughly correspond to the participation
numbers. I think that if it were to go up you will encourage
more women to be in the sport. Right now it is not too
small for the women but too small over all.
What would you like to see changed in competitions/judging?
No comment
At this years King of the Air in Maui the original
plan was to have a four women main event?
After some discussion it was opened up to include six.
How did you interpret this/feel about this?
I felt that they shouldn’t have preseeded the event
at all. The seeding seemed illegitamite because it was
from 2 years before. I feel that they should have followed
the same format as in Tarifa by letting everyone go in
the trials regardless of the size of the final event.
What do you like best about the sport?
It’s the most fun you can have ....on water.
What has been your biggest sacrifice?
My love life and my financial stability.
Is it worth it?
So far - yes
What keeps you going?
My undying hope for the future...I’m like a pitbull
once I grab on I never let go.
Who has given you the most support?
My dad
Any words of advice for women getting into the sport?
Men?
Be prepared to be verbally and physically abused regardless
of your sex.
What do you see as the major limitations to the
progress/evolution of the sport?
Windsurfers...just kidding...I guess the safety thing
is the biggest bummer of the deal. Safety and education
need to be addressed.

in kiteboarding?

I don’t like to speculate about that...I enjoy all

I’ll be 28 and living on Oahu in my ranch hat with
my winter home with my yurt in Baja
Most embarrassing moment?
Being depantsed during a kiteboarding session and having
to lose the kite to go swim for my pants.
What are you most proud of?
Graduation from college....it took me a long time...I
was pre law /poli sci with a psychology twist.
